Holly Day
Boy, does this album grow on you. This minimal-sounding core trio of musicians create some scaled-down, mostly harmonizing guitars and vocals, extremely well-recorded, beautifully-moody songs that sound intimate and spontaneous without ever sound unrehearsed, if that makes sense--turn the volume way up and it sounds like someone's sitting behind you on the couch, playing these songs. It's hard to explain, or at least it is for me. But intimate-sounding is the best way to describe this album, and the recording quality is so clean and clear it could be coming from somewhere in the room instead of being filtered in through the speakers. An extra bonus is a cover of Hayden's "Bullet," which is expertly rendered here and a wonderful addition to the otherwise original tracks on the album.
