burning brides + winnebago deal + swearing at motorists

Near the end of their set, the Swearing At Motorists frontman shares a funny story with the crowd. While the band were in Manchester he spotted a big guy in a Manchester City shirt and rather foolishly shouted "Manchester United rule!" and was subsequently punched in the face. I'm guessing the fact he is an American guy who looks like Ian Rush with Terry McDermott's hair didn't help matters either. Swearing At Motorists are a pair of white trash hillbillies (if that is possible) who look like they come from a place where swearing at motorists would probably be the most fun thing to do to pass your time, even though in this place, there are only a rare selection of motorists. The sheriff, the local mechanic in his pick-up, and Sean Penn in his Cadillac. This duo were extras in the film U-Turn, I'm sure of it. Musically, Swearing At Motorists are a messy mish-mash of erratic drumming, random string picking and nonsensical vocals. Its pretty good if you can hack the lack of regularity of anything. To compare them to the White Stripes would be incredibly lazy, but I have never claimed to be anything but. There are similarities, in the way they are American and a duo, but these guys certainly don't wear matching outfits, and I would hazard a guess that they aren't brother and sister / married as they are both male (though I wouldn't rule the second option out). If anything, Swearing At Motorists are more random and endearingly quirky, and less commercial than The White Stripes. And probably better too. Which is a shame as nobody will ever get to hear them. They just haven't got the dress sense.
