Swearing at Motorists sind Dave Doughman (Gitarre, Gesang) und Joseph Siwinski (Schlagzeug).


Die Band war schon mal bei uns im Club, damals zusammen mit „Do make say think". Sie spielen lässige Rocksongs mit einem spröden Charme, dem man sich kaum entziehen kann. In ihrer Musik verbinden sie die Wurzeln der amerikanischen Indie-LoFi-Szene á la Guided by Voices mit Einflüssen, die von Buffalo Springfield über Richard Hell und Alex Chilton bis hin zu Power-Pop und Früh-80er New Wave reichen. Die Songs kommen ganz unprätentiös daher, wollen nicht mehr sein als Rocksongs - und sind doch allesamt kleine Rockperlen. Schön abwechslungsreich, immer auf den Punkt gebracht. Und immer wieder ertappt man sich beim Grübeln, an was einem das gerade erinnert - und hat doch keine richtige Chance, weil Swearing at Motorists zu eigen sind, und aus all ihren Einflüssen ein eigenes Ding gemacht haben. Noch ein passendes Zitat: „Es gibt Bands, die einfach in der Luft liegen, um plötzlich ohne Vorwarnung aufzutauchen. Das sind Bands, die einen im Sturm erobern und nie wieder allein lassen wollen. Swearing at Motorists sind so eine Band. Voller Spielfreude, zwischen energetischem Powerpop und getragenem Songwriter-Schmerz werden alle Register gezogen, die diese Art von Musik so liebenswert macht. Keine der vorhandenen Ideen wird totgeritten, und alles klingt eigen und (soweit im Rahmen dieser Art von Musik möglich) neu. Wundervoll!" (Intro)
