SWEARING AT MOTORISTS, SCOUT NIBLETT

september 05, 2002 - salt lake city, ut - kilby court

from slc weekly

Your favorite pastime is now an indie rock band, courtesy of one-time Guided by Voices members Don Thrasher and Dave Doughman. The two-man drum-and-guitar config is up with the times and is the perfect opponent to the White Stripes, according to Doughman, who has issued a battle challenge to Jack and Meg White. “The Stripes are a good band. I’m not challenging that. I just know that the Motorists can rock harder on stage and I want to prove it, that’s all.” Of course, he could be trying to drum up interest in his own band and when asked, he’s honest about it, replying, “Abso-fuckin’-lutely!” You’ll have to wait for the Pay-Per-View, though. Tonight, the band tag-teams with pixy-ish singer-songwriter Scout Niblett. Thursday, Sept. 5 @ Kilby Court, 741 S. 330 West, 320-9887, 8:30 p.m.
